Everyone walks down life's broken roads as they grow older. We all experience pain and loss and, along with that, happiness and joy. Those experiences are what shapes us into who we are and where we go. For a selected few, that broken road leads us to learn compassion and want to help and heal. That is the kind of person the patient wants to have taking care of them. They don't want someone coming in for just a job, doing just enough. They want and need that person who sees a hurt and a broken individual. For that one moment, we are the light in the darkness in the world for them. We are called not to heal just an ailment, but the whole person. That is my philosophy of healthcare.
