I have two very distinct sides to my personality. A logical/clinical/objective part, and a very emotional/creative/subjective side. I need to access both sides for me to be able to provide genuine care. In a clinical setting, I’m more likely to only allow the logical/objective side to operate. I typically bury the other, and that is not true care. I believe genuine care is given only when both sides of me are available and accessible, when appropriate. I know I will always fall short of perfection, but I can always make a difference. For me, it not only requires wisdom, it calls for the courage, to open the door of vulnerability, involved in caring for and not just caring about someone in need.Updated: January 12, 2011 - 11:19am - by Yvette Saliba
