There is a song which goes ”when I cry you cry, when I hurt you hurt, when I’ve lost someone it takes a piece of you too,” this is what the life of Christ is all about, his ability to love each individual so much that he experiences everything with them. I had a friend Jack Merck who died last week and I thought that I was so special to him, during the memorial service one person after the other got up and talked about this special relationship they had with him and I felt almost cheated and then I realized that the relationship he had with each person was uniquely special. This is how I want to live out health care as ministry, so that each person I interact with will feel like they are uniquely special to me, I hear them, and I get it and that even if I can’t change anything I am present with them.
