My Philosophy of Healthcare is pretty much laid out in the lyrics of a song I wrote called “Throw Me an Egg.” It starts with having faith with your abilities as a healthcare provider, your patient’s abilities to go through the healing process, and a faith in God’s power to heal. Using faith as a base or foundation, it is that important to put aside our judgments and assumptions of other people as we care for them and focus on caring for their needs. Finally, it includes going beyond doing the bare minimum of what your employer requires of you, and putting the time and energy into doing whatever it takes to heal and cure the patient. Probably the two lines that I would quote from the lyrics to sum all this up would be “...healthcare philosophy that says man deserves whatever he needs” and “...healthcare ends with care not apathy.” Okay, one more “...it all starts with a little faith, that if you throw me an egg it’s not going to break.”
