My Philosophy of Healthcare is that we should not try to determine our treatment based on judgment. Each patient should most likely receive the same treatment. Not because of how they look, speak, their medical history, income or education. My first experiences came this semester in clinicals where I watched that even nurses only went into a patient's room for meals or when they called. Hours went by and they hadn't entered the room. A big part of healthcare is to care. Too much care is gone these days. Yes I know healthcare providers are busy. But a little act of caring goes a long way. You never know that person's story or what they are going through. People often judge drug addicts, sex offenders and other people who have the criminal label, when there are so many bad paople that come into hospitals each day and get better treatment. Healthcare has learned to not care about patients and their needs. Too many are taught that showing your care is a sign of weakness. Too many people are taught to treat the patient as if they were you or your family and do the opposite. Healthcare needs more care and love in it.Updated: January 10, 2011 - 2:55pm - by Yvette Saliba
