Philosophy of healthcare to me means to have compassion to our patients and others. I remember years ago when my father was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery to have his gallbladder out. While he was in the hospital the staff was unpleasant towards my father when he asked for assistance. He only got a visit from the doctor once during his two-week stay at the hospital. If it wasn’t for my mother coming in everyday to make sure he was getting everything he needed, including food and walking twice daily as the doctor ordered, my father’s stay would have been longer. After that experience I devoted my time while working at the hospital to make my patients feel comfortable and to make sure I did anything I could to make my patients have a speedier recovery. I have always known that helping people is something I’ve always wanted to do for a career in the future. I love that through prayer with my patients it makes them feel safe and they know I care about them.Updated: April 12, 2011 - 1:28pm - by Yvette Saliba
