I always remember one conversation that I had with my older sister when she told me, "Remember that when you get patients, make sure you respect their rights and acknowledge them about what you are going to do because many times the nurses don't realize that because they are in power, they don't explain anything and they just made the patients feel without any control of their bodies in their moment of most vulnerability. For that reason I always made sure that my patients know who I am and what I am going to do each time. My Philosophy of Healthcare is treat the patients in a holistic way, being their advocate, giving them hope, support, and the most important: acknowledging them as human beings who have control of their life all the time.
