Admission and Registrar Professionals Visit FHCHS

Forums, fellowship, and friends highlighted the weekend of March 21-23, 2008, for more than 30 Adventist college and universities professionals. The group convened on the Florida Hospital College campus to participate in meetings of the Adventist Association of Collegiate Admissions Officers and Registrars (AACAOR).

Representatives from eleven Adventist institutions across North America met to share ideas, learn about each other’s institutional practices, and discuss trends and initiatives from their campuses. “It was very exciting to meet with other people of the same faith, discussing how we serve in our own institutions,” commented Elieze Strydom, Admissions and Records Director for Loma Linda University’s School of Public Health, Loma Linda, Calif.

The weekend featured a variety of speakers from the Florida Hospital College campus including a warm welcome from College President David Greenlaw, worship services at the Florida Hospital Church, Sabbath afternoon at the Holy Land Experience in Orlando, and dinner at Downtown Disney. A popular aspect of the Sunday activities was discussion forums for both admissions officers and registrars. Topics included international student issues, best practices, and common topics that were pertinent to all. There was positive agreement that this opportunity proved beneficial.

“This was a great reunion (for me) with the AACAOR members, they are my buddies”, shared Charlotte Coy, Director of Admissions at Southwestern Adventist University, Keene Texas.

AACAOR meets annually on the eve of the national American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) convention. AACAOR serves the Adventist higher education institutions by providing a forum for sharing best practices and fellowship between education professionals toward the interest of our students.
