This course is the first trimester of a two-trimester course. It is a study of the structure and reactions of organic compounds with emphasis on nomenclature, molecular structure, reaction mechanisms, stereochemical properties, organic syntheses, electronic effects, and spectra-structure relationships. Three hours of lecture and 1 hour of recitation each week. This course satisfies the requirement for a major or minor in chemistry.
All prerequisites must be completed with a minimum grade of C (2.00).
