This course focuses on the application of the nursing process in the provision of secondary and tertiary prevention and strengthening the adult patient/client lines of defense and resistance to environmental stressors. The student will manage the care of the critical, unstable patient/client experiencing stressors affecting physiological, psychological, sociocultural, developmental, and spiritual variables. The student will provide care within the critical care environment. This course includes 3.5 credit hours of theory (52 clock hours) and 1.5 credit hours of clinical (67 clock hours). The course meets the requirement for an oral communication course (see Communication Requirements in the Academic Bulletin).
