Each applicant must write an essay explaining the applicant’s interest in becoming an Occupational Therapy Assistant and reason for choosing Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences. The essay must be organized according to the following format:
- Write what you know about the profession of Occupational Therapy. This information can come from library/Internet research, observation in an occupational therapy clinic, and/or interview of an Occupational Therapy Practitioner. Please include:
- Typical workday activities of an Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Types of patients or clients an Occupational Therapy Assistant treats
- Where an Occupational Therapy Assistant works
- Include special interests, aptitudes, skills and/or experiences you have that would make you a good Occupational Therapy Assistant. Any experience you have in an OT setting (volunteer, job, or job shadowing) should be stated here.
- Explain why you have chosen Florida Hospital College of Health Science’s OTA Program. Remember:
- Use correct spelling and grammar.
- The essay must be double-spaced and printed from a word processor or computer using a legible, clear, size 12 black font.
- Include a resource list (where you obtained your OT information) on a separate page.
- The essay must be 1-3 pages in length (not including resource list).
