Pursuing a Master's in Occupational Therapy is a great way for people with a wide variety of Bachelor's degrees to gain this advanced knowledge while, in some cases, beginning a new career. Many of our applicants have been in the work force and have decided to return to school to pursue a career where they can feel like they're making a difference in someone's life.

The Master's in Occupational Therapy at ADU has applied for accreditation and has been granted Developing Program Status by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). Students in the program will have the benefit of a very flexible schedule with classes two days per week and the utilization of blended learning they can do from home. In the clinical setting, our Academic Fieldwork Coordinator has worked hard to secure over 200 contracts with various schools and agencies around the country to give our students a wide variety of options during their seven clinical rotations. The program is seven trimesters in length, or two and a half years, with the last two trimesters being solely clinical. This will allow students to complete the final requirements anywhere, even out of state.

Occupational Therapy Career Outlook

One of the largest benefits of having a Master's in Occupational Therapy is to give yourself more options for independent employment once your degree is finished. OTs are able to start their own business, develop new equipment for use with their patients, or work in a more traditional setting if that is their preference. A Master's will also open the door to additional research opportunities and will prepare students for doctoral work. Recent graduates of an Occupational Therapy program can expect to earn $55,000-80,000 per year in the Central Florida area.
