Ask any Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) what they do all day and their answer will most likely boil down to the same thing: let their creative juices flow! OTAs work with individuals of all ages with physical, mental, and developmental disabilities to their patients achieve maximum independence. And for each patient, that solution may be a little different than the last patient they worked with exhibiting the same symptoms. Each situation is unique, just as each patient is unique, and learning to adapt therapy to individual needs is an art.
Choose Only the Best
If a career that's creative, adaptive, fun, and allows you to interact with patients of all types sounds like the right fit, consider our accredited AS Occupational Therapy Assistant program. You'll learn with faculty that have a wide range of experience in the field and care about each student individually as a child of God. In the clinical setting, our Academic Fieldwork Coordinator has worked hard to secure over 200 contracts with various schools and agencies around Central Florida to give our students a wide variety of options during their six clinical rotations.
Occupational Therapy Assistant Career Outlook
OTAs can go on to work in hospitals, schools, nursing homes, private clinics, outpatient clinics, the military, and even in many non-traditional settings, such as Alzheimer's rehabilitation centers and pet therapy clinics. Many of our AS graduates go on to complete their Bachelor's degree and then pursue a Master's in Occupational Therapy. In fact, the newest graduate degree at ADU is a Master's in OT! Graduates of the OTA program right out of school can expect to earn $39,000-56,000 per year in the Central Florida area.
