- Can I work part-time while in the program?
- Because of the intensity of the program with at least 40 hours a week spent in classes, labs and clinicals (not including study time) it is recommended that you do not work. If you must work, limited working hours are suggested.
- Do I have to complete all my prerequisites before I can be accepted into the program?
- No. You may be accepted contingent on successful completion of prerequisites prior to the beginning of the program; however, priority is given to those students who have completed all three prerequisite courses by the admission deadline.
- Can I attend the program part-time?
- First year students who transfer in a number of courses may have a lighter class load. However, second year students must attend the program full time.
- What if my GPA is not high enough for admission?
- You may retake any class you choose. The College uses your highest grade for a class when calculating your GPA.
- What are my chances of getting chosen from the alternate list?
- Students are frequently selected from the alternate list. Students can increase their chances of being selected by completing all of the prerequisite requirements.
- Will I ever come into contact with blood?
- Yes. Sonographers assist patients who may present with bleeding or have lesions that weep. Sonographers assist physicians in performing biopsies and other invasive procedures, such as amniocentesis. Sonographers may also be called to the trauma room or to provide assistance with an intra-operative ultrasound procedure. Part of your training will include learning universal precautions (how to protect yourself if you are in a situation where contact with blood or a body fluids).
