General College Admission

Students granted regular admission status to Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences must complete their application file and meet the following general admission requirements.

High School and Transfer Students from a Regionally Accredited School or General Education Development (GED) Credential recipients:

Prospective students will be considered for regular College admission status when they:

  1. Submit an application
    1. Paperwork received without an application on file will not be processed.
  2. Present evidence of graduation with a standard diploma (minimum) from a regionally accredited high school with a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.50 or official passing scores on the GED. Applicants who have not graduated from a regionally accredited high school, including those who have been home schooled, may substitute passing scores on the GED. Please refer to the following section “High School Students from a Non-Regionally Accredited School or Home Schooled Students” for more details.
    1. Applicants with 12 or more college-level credits from a regionally accredited college are exempt from the minimum high school GPA requirement. Only the cumulative college GPA will be used for admission purposes.
    2. Applicants with less than 60 college-level credits from a regionally accredited college must submit official high school transcripts.
    3. Applicants with 60 or more college-level credits from a regionally accredited college are exempt from submitting official high school transcripts.
    4. Official Passing scores on the GED
      1. 1998 Series: A minimum score of 50 on each section of the test with an overall average score of 60 (for a minimum total score of 250)
      2. 2002 Series: A minimum score of 410 on each section of the test with an overall average score of 500 (for a minimum total score of 2500 ).
  3. Submit official transcripts from all regionally accredited colleges previously attended.
    1. Present a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 (on a 4.00 scale) on all previous college-level academic work from the above institutions.
  4. Submit official American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores. Scores will be used for placement and advising and not to determine admission status. Applicants with 24 or more college-level credits from a regionally accredited college are exempt from taking the ACT or SAT.
  5. Submit three recommendations on FHCHS recommendation forms.

A transcript is considered official when stamped with the official school seal, signed by the appropriate school official, and received in a sealed envelope. Recommendation forms, official transcripts, and career essays received with a FHCHS application, will be retained for one year. Applications received without an official transcript(s), career essay and/or recommendation forms will be retained for six months.
