Under certain circumstances, ADU may give credit for prior coursework in a particular field when the student validates knowledge and ability by successful completion of more advanced coursework at ADU in that field (see individual program conditions and specifications).
A student must submit a petition to be given credit by validation. The petition must be approved by the department chair and the Senior Vice President for Academic Administration before the last trimester prior to graduation.
Credit granted by validation will not generate quality points or affect the grade point average, but will apply toward degree credit requirements. Credit by validation is awarded only in areas which fall within the regular curricular offerings of ADU and which are related to the student’s current educational goals. Credit by validation will not count toward residency or financial aid hours.
