The successful applicant for admission to the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program must meet the general admissions requirements for admission to ADU and the following requirements:

1. A minimum admissions GPA of 2.70 in high school or on a minimum of 12 college credits. Applicants should be advised that all three prerequisite courses must be completed by the program start date. Additionally, applicants who have completed the prerequisites by the application deadline will be given admission preference.
2. A minimum GPA of 2.50 in English, mathematics, and science courses.
3. A minimum ACT composite score of 19 with an individual score of 19 in math. Applicants with 24 or more credits from a regionally accredited college are exempt from taking the ACT.
4. Submit two recommendations on ADU recommendation forms. Recommendations submitted at the time of initial application to the University will meet this requirement for new ADU students. Students who have attended ADU for at least one trimester must submit an additional recommendation from any ADU faculty member, adjunct professor, tutoring coordinator, or chaplain.
   1. Submit an essay explaining the applicant's interest in becoming a sonographer that clearly identifies which track he or she is applying for and reasons for selecting a faith-based institution, including how the applicant feels he or she fits within the mission of the University.

Admission into all professional programs is competitive. Each program has a maximum number of students that can be admitted each year. Students meeting the admission requirements for a given program qualify to be considered for admission to that program. However, due to the competitive nature of each program's admission process, meeting minimum admission requirements does not guarantee acceptance. Students may be given preferential consideration for admission to degree and certificate programs when they have successfully completed 12 college-level hours at ADU.
