Social Activities Round out the FHCHS Student Experience

“L is for the way you look at me…” was merely one of the lyrics that rang through the halls of the Campus Center just days ago.

Recently, the Student Services Department hosted the first FHCHS Valentine’s Day karaoke party in the Student Lounge. For a few hours, participants were able to take a break, enjoy savory treats, prizes, and entertainment provided by FHC’s finest. Songs ranging from recent hits to golden oldies kept students on the edge of their seats as they anticipated which peers would be next to sing. Some belted with diva-like style; others squawked and laughed his or her way through each chorus. All were triumphant in braving the microphone.

Valentine's Day Activities

Student Services wasn’t the only department partaking in the festivities. Campus clubs from the Nursing and Occupational Therapy Assistant Departments held bake sales. Club SOTA (Student Occupational Therapy Association) raised funds for students to attend the state FOTA conference and for service projects (i.e. assembling activity kits for individuals in psycho-social settings and giving Christmas gifts to nursing home patients.) The FSNA (Florida Student Nursing Association) raised funds for students to attend local and national conferences and also to bring professionals speakers to the FHCHS campus for student club meetings.

Today, the Campus Center halls are much quieter, but it’s only a matter of time before another fun-packed event builds memories that will continue to nurture the student experience at FHCHS.
