Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences (FHCHS) in Orlando, Florida, launched their new web site on August 8, 2006. The campus is excited about the new look and feel of the site, and about its ease of use.
Paul Martin, webmaster for the College, has been working on the master plan for the redesign for close to a year. The new site will launch in phases with Phase One featuring a new look and feel, a search feature for the entire site, an online Academic Bulletin in a clickable format, and a global navigation system.
Part of the master plan is the introduction of my.fhchs.edu as the place where all all students and staff can log in and access a portal of information specific to them.
“The new www.fhchs.edu is designed with the prospective student as its focus,” Martin commented. “It should provide the answer to most common questions about the College.” New to the site is the Campus News feature where you can find out what’s new and noteworthy at FHCHS!
In the future, a greater segment of the new my.fhchs.edu will be distance education students. “We want our online students to feel that they are an important part of our web site,” stated Fely Rugless, director of Academic Technology and Information Systems.
The College will host its first fully online registration beginning Fall 2006. Future phases of the web site will include an online application, a redesign of the staff and student portals, a campus web camera, virtual tours, and an expanded online Campus Bookstore.
This launch sets the stage for many future plans and interactive features to serve students, College employees, and the community.
